About Stavros Mastrogiannis Stavros founded Olympus Personal Training & Weight Management Center in 1996. His approach to fitness stresses the importance of developing a realistic regimen of exercise and nutrition that can be maintained for a lifetime of good health. His exceptional understanding of motivation and consistency as the root of success in long-term fitness has enabled him to teach hundreds of people how to effectively lose weight and keep it off, even when other trainers and diet plans have failed. Stavros provides his clients with cutting-edge nutrition and weight loss information from the top medical institutes. He is a source of inspiration for thousands, having organized the Danbury Weight Loss Challenge in 2004 and partnering with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital for the Get In Shape for 2007 Challenge. Prior to founding Olympus Personal Training & Weight Management Center, Stavros was a fitness instructor for the Regional YMCA of Western Connecticut from 1994 to 1996. He also served as a fitness instructor for Newtown Health & Fitness Club in 1993. In these positions, Stavros enjoyed educating, training and motivating his clients as they pursued their weight loss and fitness goals. Stavros Mastrogiannis holds an A.O.S. Degree in Culinary Arts from The Culinary Institute of America. He is a Nutrition Specialist, has also received a diploma in Fitness and Nutrition from International Correspondence Schools and holds numerous certifications, including CPR, and ACE (American Council on Exercise) certifications as a Personal Trainer and Lifestyle & Weight Management Consultant. Olympus Personal Training & Weight Management was founded by Stavros Mastrogiannis in May of 1996. Olympus is a gym that only does personal training. All weight training sessions are done in a privet fully equipped studio with only you and the trainer in the room. Although we can help our clients with a variety of fitness goal including golf specific training, toning and muscle building training, our specialty is permanent weight loss. We believe losing the weight is only half of the battle, keeping it off is the other half. We have a unique and very effective way of approaching weight loss, which greatly increases the chance that our clients will not regain the weight back after they lose it with our method.
Our programs are based on solid facts and well-researched information. Nothing goes into our programs just because is popular, it has to be effective. The sad truth is when it comes to losing weight, what is popular usually is not effective. If all the popular exercise programs and diets were effective we should have been the thinnest and healthiest nation in the world and obviously we are not. Many of the popular exercise programs and diets become popular because of 3 reasons: One, smart marketing, they tell people whatever they want to hear, two, they are usually easy and convenient to do but not necessarily effective, and three, this is especially true for popular diets, they enable people to lose weight fast but the weight loss in many cases in not healthy and almost in all cases does not last.
Stavros Mastrogiannis, Founder of Olympus Personal Training & Weight Management Center in Danbury, Connecticut and Author of Live Your Way Thin and Cracking the Weight Loss Code, is a fifteen-year veteran of the weight loss field with a unique, life-changing perspective. Residing in Greece for twelve years before moving to the United States in 1987, Stavros was immersed in a culture that embraced a healthy lifestyle. After moving to the U.S., Stavros continued to visit Greece every other year. Over time, he observed changes in eating habits, exercise and daily living, resulting in a weight problem similar to that in the U.S. At age twenty-one, Stavros made the decision to shift gears from a pursuit of preparing fine cuisine to the weight loss and fitness profession, where he could make a difference in peoples’ lives. He is committed to putting an end to the weight loss misinformation that abounds and to helping people lose weight the healthy way.
Maurice is the newest member of the Olympus team. He brings knowledge and a passion to the fitness industry. With detailed, comprehensive instruction from the National Personal Training Institute in Stamford, CT he brings experience and the ability to effectively guide individuals to meet their goals. His certifications include an NPTI Certified Personal Trainer, NPTI Certified Nutritional Consultant and Red Cross CPR/First Aid. Maurice is also a competitive bodybuilder, recently placing 1st (Novice Lightweight Division) in the New York State Bodybuilding and Figure Championships; the first page in his competition career book. He is a member of the INBF (International Natural Bodybuilding & Fitness Federation), the affiliated amateur organization of the WNBF (World Natural Bodybuilding Federation). Representing the Olympus team he seeks to promote healthy living and to help you be your best.
Danny is a veteran of the National High School Wrestling Championships, a former college football player, once ranked as high as eighth in the nation in the sport of Judo. Danny has practiced a variety of martial arts for more than 12 years including Kempo, Jiu Jitsu, and Wing Chun Kung Fu. Danny is certified as a personal fitness trainer through the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America.
