Add More Power to Your Golf Swing

The ability to swing the golf club with power is the sum of two factors: your swing mechanics and how strong, fit, and flexible the muscles involved are.  Of course, how far the ball will travel also has to do with the type of equipment you are using, but your swing mechanics and how fit you are play a much bigger role.

When most golfers think about improving their game, they think of taking more lessons to improve the mechanics of their swing.    Although this will help, if you body is not fit enough to support a proper golf swing, all the lessons in the world will not help you reach your potential.

Let me explain.  A proper golf swing requires a certain amount of flexibility, strength, explosive power, balance and endurance in order for it to be performed optimally.  If you body is lacking the necessary fitness, no matter how hard you work on your swing, you will always fall short of your potential.  The body is the engine that drives the golf club.  If the engine that drives the golf club cannot produce a lot of power, the ball will not go far.

If you want to hit the ball with more power, in addition to working on the mechanics of your swing, you must condition your body.  Another benefit of having a well-conditioned body is that it will significantly lower the risk of golf-related injuries, which means more time playing golf for you!
