How in Healthy Regions People Stay in Shape Effortlessly

Have you ever wondered how people in healthy regions can maintain their excellent health effortlessly? You don't see them constantly worrying about their diet, how many calories to eat, their carbs, and working out. As a matter of fact, you don't see them engaging in most of the healthy behaviors promoted by prevalent weight loss and diet programs.

The reason I know so much about healthy regions is not just because I studied them but because I was born and raised in one.

I was born and raised on a Greek island, and thin and healthy were the norm when I lived there. People lived long, healthy lives free from most diseases we associate with old age. Diseases like cancer, Alzheimer's, and dementia were rare or nonexistent.

When I lived in Greece, nobody worried about their diet or working out, yet most people were in great shape. HOW?

All the healthy behaviors we engaged in regularly and kept us in shape were habitual. In other words, no thinking was required to engage in those behaviors. It was like our fitness program was on autopilot, which left our conscious mind free to focus on more important things like enjoying life instead of constantly worrying about our diet and workouts.

So you see, in healthy regions, all the healthy behaviors that keep people in shape are habitual. In contrast, all the healthy behaviors through which most weight loss and diet programs help people lose weight and get in shape are behaviors that can never become habitual.

That is how people in healthy regions can maintain their great shape effortlessly, whereas most people struggle to maintain the results they achieve with the popular methods of weight loss.

So, if you want to lose weight, get in shape, and be able to maintain the results effortlessly, you need to make sure all the healthy behaviors through which you lose the weight are behaviors that can become habitual with a bit of practice.

For example, counting calories and points and measuring your food can never become habitual. Instead, learn to pay attention to your hunger, eat less often, and eat slowly and mindfully. Besides their effectiveness, what is great about these 3 behaviors is that they become completely habitual with a bit of practice.
